Nike’s Air Max Plus has recently revved up the creative engine, appearing in new color scheme after new color scheme.
As Sean McDowell’s iconic design from 1998 bids farewell to its 25th anniversary, it only continues to expand its roster. Original styles from its Foot Locker-exclusive launch are expected to release throughout 2024, but newer options like a recently-surfaced grey, navy, and neon yellow arrangement promise to satisfy any craving for the first Tuned Air pair in the meantime.
The upcoming Nike Air Max Plus features most of McDowell’s blueprint from the late 90s, but forgoes the TPU overlays across the upper in favor of a flush fuse material. Mesh base layers take on a deep blue hue that complements the grayscale medley nearby well. Branding on the top of the tongue and profiles deviate in an eye-catching yellow that draws a loose connection to other performance Nike models from the era. The color story stays the same underfoot, as Tuned Air and Air Max units opt for vibrant yellow flair; whale tail-shaped shanks at the mid-foot follow suit. Waffle-patterned traction favors a dark grey tone, but accompanying components also enjoy some of the upper’s accent hues.
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. No firm nike.com launch details have been disclosed by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change in early 2024. The shoes are priced at $175 USD.
