Nike’s Air Max 1 Appears With A “Wheat/Flax” Makeover

The Nike Air Max 1 continues to play an important part in the brand’s lineup of products, despite debuting 36 years ago.

During its SNKRS Showcase on October 29th, the Swoosh unveiled 40 pairs of sneakers prepped from Holiday 2023 to Spring 2025. Tinker Hatfield’s original Air Max was included in the lineup, promising fans a return to “Sport Royal” form in the first-half of 2024. Additionally, the silhouette has surfaced in handfuls of new, compelling styles, expanding its lifestyle catalog in the process.

As temperatures continue to dip, the Air Max 1 has emerged in a “Wheat/Flax/Outdoor Green” color scheme perfect for fall. The shades of brown aren’t new to the Nike Sportswear lineup, seeing widespread success for their versatility and resemblance of popular winter boots. Hatfield’s design features an off white-colored textile base that sets the stage for a number of fabric overlays clad in either “Wheat” or “Flax.” Profile swooshes, tongues, and laces revert to a rather “colorless” makeup, contrasting the autumnal arrangement well. Underfoot, Nike Air-assisted midsoles also opt for a bone-like finish that allows the upper to further revel in the spotlight. Waffle-patterned traction rooted in performance heritage rounds out the ensemble with a “Light Gum Brown” hue.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead. No firm nike.com launch date has been disclosed by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change soon. The “Wheat” Air Max 1 is priced at $150 USD.
