Between Mocha & Reverse Panda Is The Nike Dunk Low Next Nature “Velvet Brown”

A sleek & premium look for these women's exclusives.

Between Mocha & Reverse Panda Is The Nike Dunk Low Next Nature “Velvet Brown”

As the Nike Dunk Low continues its transition into a pretty readily available sneaker, that shift has opened up a lane for the shoe to explore other Nike initiatives. Though initially rolled out back in 2021, the Next Nature program has begun to seriously pick up steam on the Dunk line recently, with a “Sea Glass” Dunk Low and “Daybreak” Dunk Low carrying the moniker in just the past month. In their newest iteration, the Nike Dunk Low “Velvet Brown” evokes some of the most notable releases in their history for a sophisticated women’s exclusive.

Certain color combinations immediately make our heads jump to specific shoes. Here, the heavily emphasis on black on the upper leather and midsole, combined with a “Summit White” swoosh call to mind the inescapable monochrome Dunk Low. It’s not a beat-for-beat recreation of the “Reverse Panda,” though. The “Velvet Brown” which lends this release its name takes to nubuck upper panels, as well as dotting the liner and Nike tongue tab. They finish off with a gum outsole, marked by the speckle pattern that often populates “Next Nature” pairs, a visual reinforcement of the recycled material used in their construction.

The exact proportions of reused construction on each model under the umbrella will of course vary, but that “Next Nature” branding indicates these Dunk Lows are at least 20% recycled material by weight.

As a GR Nike, the “Velvet Brown” Nike Dunk Low Next Nature will begin their rollout to Nike.com and some retailers in the near future. Carrying a slightly elevated $135 price tag, they’ll be available in a full women’s size run.

Elsewhere for the Swoosh, the Air Jordan 1 Low SE “Punk Rock” speaks to a Chrome Hearts like aesthetic.
