The Nike Air Max 97 Join The “Glacier Blue” Push

A more modest deployment of the suddenly widespread shade.

The Nike Air Max 97 Join The “Glacier Blue” Push

As a company, Nike is prone to choosing their own “Pantone”/”color of the year” kinds of shades, adorning many of their wide release models with the same tones throughout any given year. In 2024, one of those that’s built up the most momentum is an icy kind of blue, adorning the Nike Dunk Low “Glacier Blue,” Nike Cortez “Glacier Blue” and most recently, the Nike Air Huarache Runner “Glacier Blue.” Giving consumers a ton of model-options with their new favorite color, the newest Nike Air Max 97 presents another possible choice.

While some of those aforementioned shoes dressed up almost exclusively in that trademark tonality, here the titular shade plays more of an ancillary role. Of the blues that they make their way through on the iconic AM97 waves, “Glacier Blue” certainly stands out the most, also deployed as an overlay on the tongue. However, navy is equally important in this design, representing the darkest shade in that gradient, and painting the outsole & Air unit. The rest of the shoe is dressed in an off-white look that lends some vintage appeal.

As one final conceptual tie, the rope laces that typically come alongside the Air Max 97 are given a blue makeover, with the white that dominates the rest of the shoe running as contrast throughout them.

The Air Max 97 “Glacier Blue” is expected to hit retailers and Nike.com in the next couple of weeks as we near the true kickoff of Spring ’24. Once available, they’ll carry a $170 retail price.

In similar news, Nike continues eyeing spring-ready releases with the “Oxidized Green” Air Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT.
