Original article posted July 26th, 2024: Originally designed for Scottie Pippen for the 1996 Games, the Nike Air More Uptempo “Olympic” is set to return on July 26th in full family sizes.

Nike first brought back the shoes in 2010, albeit in limited numbers, before starting to retro them every four years in lockstep with the international competition, beginning in 2012. Now on its fifth retro release, the shoes are still identical to the original pair Scottie rocked in Atlanta. White “Air” overlays wrap a blue leather base in a patriotic mix, while red Swoosh logos appear on the tongue and outsole. Pippen wore #33 for the Chicago Bulls, but #8 for Team USA throughout his playing days, reflected by gold numbering on the heel of each shoe.

The Air Jordan 6 is probably the first shoe that comes to mind at the mention of “Olympic” footwear nowadays, but as far as legacy colorways that were actually worn on-court go, the Nike Air More Uptempo boasts a gem. Also consider the fact that Scottie Pippen and Team USA put on a stellar, gold medal-winning performance even in Michael Jordan’s absence, and there’s a lot of aura to be celebrated here.

The Nike Air More Uptempo “Olympic” returns to shelves on July 26th, 2024 in full family sizing; return to our “Where To Buy” section below for purchase links on the drop date.
