Looking back at the catalogue of Nike Classics, you can easily play a sneaker-association game. “Neon Green” will almost always point to the Air Max 95, metallic silver to the Air Max 97, and so on. For the Air Max 90, the Infrared colorway is surely the most recognizable – if the Air Max 90 were to enter the sneaker Hall of Fame, there’s no doubt it would be enshrined in the Infrared colorway. But, like many Air Max heads know, there’s more than just one colorway that the Air Max 90 will be remembered for, and to some sneakerheads, ‘Laser Blue’ holds just as much weight.
Returning this Holiday 2010 season is the Nike Air Max 90 in the original Laser Blue colorway; Europe was lucky enough to receive a re-issue but those who got their from across the pond didn’t get an exact replica – the Air unit was in a dark shade for some inexplicable reason. In this Sneaker News Exclusive preview of the Laser Blue Air Max 90, you’ll see the original white Air Unit return as well as a white leather/mesh upper combo. Unfortunately the retro version doesn’t come unchanged; the inner tongue lining is white instead of the original blue. So let’s see; Infrareds, check. Laser Blue, check. WMNS Laser Pink, check. All we need is the Spruce Lime and WMNS Hot Coral and 2010 might be the Air Max 90s year.
