Imagine, if you will, that the crown brand issued a model called the Supra Jordan or Off the Wall came through with a Vans Dunk. Not only would the designs be scrutinized as mere rip-offs, but you can bet some of the highest profile trademark attorneys in this country would have something to say about it. But it’s not just the One Star’s home under Nike, Inc.’s umbrella that makes the Converse Star Classic possible. Rather, the fact that this old school baller shares its name with another 1970’s period piece from Nike reflects the primitive state of athletic gear and its marketing back then. The Star Classic is more like a Blazer or Cons’ own Star Player than Nike’s Bruin-leaning Star Classic, and only one of them remains available to this day. Click through to see more of this simple black and white leather design and grab yours straight from Converse.
