The Jordan Brand folks headquartered in Beaverton, OR love telling stories behind their products. Take for example the Defining Moments series of Air Jordan Packs that re-told Michael’s legendary achievements, or one of the more subtle attempts like the Air Jordan V ‘Laney’, which was a throwback to Michael’s High School days. Of the entire Jordan saga that spans nearly three decades, no story is as entertaining as the ’94 tale if Johnny Kilroy – a fictional persona absorbed by Michael Jordan during his short hiatus from the game of basketball. It was a positive, light-hearted spin on Jordan’s sudden retirement from the Bulls (partly sparked by the death of his father), which focused on Jordan’s burning desire to step on a hardwood court – regardless of what uniform he dons or name he assumes.
In 2012, Jordan Brand revisits the story of Johnny Kilroy with this unprecedented ‘Pack’ of Air Jordan IX colorways, with each edition representing one of the many pseudonyms that Michael – no, wait – Johnny Kilroy used during his short span in the spotlight. Motorboat Jones, Calvin Bailey, Fontay Montana, Bentley Ellis, and of course, Johnny Kilroy are the inclusions of this roster of semi-pro ballers, and beginning this October 6th (the same date in which Michael announced his first retirement), the saga of Kilroy will be re-told – not in E! True Hollywood Story style, but with dope sneaker releases. Check out these exclusive images of the Air Jordan IX ‘Kilroy Pack’ below and let us know which of the six colorways you like best.
