New Balance “Re-engineers” The 996

Falling right in line with pretty much every sneaker brand, New Balance re-engineers one of their classic silhouettes for the modern age with updated materials. It’s the 996 that gets the modernized treatment, as the MRL 996 FU featuring a mix of synthetic and neoprene-like materials (dubbed Fantom Fit) for the front half with more traditional mesh and suede for the rear. The color block is also split, with grey in front and navy blue at the heel. It’s all sitting on top of New Balance’s excellent lightweight REVlite foam. The New Balance MRL 996 FU is arriving now at select New Balance retailers globally.
