ESPN’s 30 for 30 series often takes a break from the competitive playing field of sports to explore the cultural aspects surrounding the games we love. Their Sole Man documentary focused on the story of Sonny Vaccaro and his huge role in the earliest days of the sneaker industry, as he helped recruit star High School athletes to major schools and subsequently dealt with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. But what happens if you’re an athlete with size 15+ and you need a pair of dress shoes? Well, you went to Atlanta’s own Friedman’s. ESPN’s latest mini-doc tells the story of the legendary luxury shoe providers and how they came into the business of selling oversized shoes to some of the world’s larger-than-life athletes. Check out the ESPN’s latest 30 for 30 short in its entirety below.
