Yohji Yamamoto’s obsession with the sci-fi film genre, which includes masterpieces like Blade Runner, A Clockwork Orange, and Under The Skin, serve as the key inspiration behind the spring/summer 2017 footwear collection of his adidas Y-3 label. The futurist aesthetic has always been obvious with his work and to say he was ahead of the curve would be an understatement, but next year’s product line, which is divided into four themes of ‘Future Perfect’, ‘Dimension 3’, ‘Renegade’, and ‘Surrealism’, is incredibly promising as it features new silhouettes and others that take off from the mega-hit Qasa family. Leading the charge for this SS17 showing is the adidas Y-3 NOCI 0003, which is in stores now in limited quantity.
