The Nike Vapormax Completely Sold Out On Air Max Day

Nike has another hit on their hands. The Nike VaporMax completely sold out yesterday during the Air Max Day 2017 celebration, and early feedback of the shoe that features a futuristic full-length visible air outsole with absolutely no midsole unit to help you truly ‘walk on air’ has been insanely positive. The limited runs of all three debut colorways will likely be more readily available in the future as the Swoosh garners more attention to their head-turning new silhouette (the same can’t be said about the COMME des Garcons Nike VaporMax, unfortunately).

This weekend didn’t come without its fair share of controversy. First, adidas tried to spoil the Swoosh’s weekend plans with a last minute surprise: the adidas Best of Boost celebration started Saturday, March 25th with restocks on some of their most popular Ultra Boosts and NMD colorways. Then the miadidas Ultra Boost dropped featuring Multi-Color Primeknit options at the NYC flagship store. The competitive nature of trying to steal people’s attention away from Air Max Day was awesome, and what resulted was a weekend for the ages.

While the three stripes might’ve tried to steal some of Nike’s thunder, it didn’t look like it hurt first weekend sales of the VaporMax, though. Some adidas employees were even caught tweeting out the #noairneeded tag, but Nike took the high road and had another awesome Air Max Day. The fact that Air Max technology has had a three-decade run speaks for itself, and even the best Boost offerings couldn’t deter Nike loyalists. Now if Boost is around for another decade or two, a Best of Boost weekend will definitely be able to stand on its own merit, and not just serve as a foil to a special Nike occasion. Did you end of grabbing anything this weekend? And if so, did you go with Boost over Air Max? Let us know in the comments section below.
