From Dyckman to Rucker to West 4th Street, summer basketball leagues in NYC are cultural events to behold, and Nike is celebrating the Big Apple’s love of street hoops with a new “NY vs NY” pack, made up of the classic Air Force 1 Low and the new Air Edge 270. Taking on a white, black, and orange color scheme but presenting it in a different fashion, each shoe offers a unique look that’s rooted in basketball. The Air Force 1 opts for a white leather base with slight textured detailing, and uses black/orange sparingly for trim and accents. A special NYC lace deubre and alternate-style Swoosh on the heel provide the most interesting details. Meanwhile, the Charles Barkley-inspired Air Edge 270 ramps up the color, calling upon a combination of orange ballistic mesh and black nubuck for its upper. A rugged textured appears on the toebox, while an NY vs NY graphic graces the lateral heel and the white midsole features an orange Air Max 270 unit with black speckles. Both are then completed with a special graphic on the insole. You can expect each pair to release on Nike.com June 22nd with the AF1 retailing for an even $100 USD and the Edge 270 for $160 USD, so check out official images of each below, and be sure to get over to the aforementioned parks to watch some high-level hoops if you’re in NYC this summer.
