Nike Adds A Heart Locket On This Upcoming Air Max 97

Nike’s past Valentine’s Day sneakers have been outfitted with pink or scarlet uppers, decorated with hearts, and styled with other details most commonly associated with the most romantic day of the year, but the Swoosh’s proposal for 2020 dresses the Air Max 97 almost entirely in black. The ’97 model’s low silhouette only finds its uppers contrasted by a rich red color running in between the dark, almost reflective mesh and the glossy black leather mudguard. The same bold hue appears on Nike branding across the midfoot, tongue, and outsole, as well as the iconic visible Air unit at the midsole. Keeping us from mistaking this forthcoming release for simply another in-line “bred” paint job, this iteration of the classic runner will rock a heart-shaped locket reading “Nike” as a hangtag.

No official release date is yet known for this Air Max 97, but you can anticipate a February 2020 drop on Nike.com, just in time for you to gift these to (or find) a special someone in your life.

UPDATED January 28th, 2020: This heart locket-accompanied Air Max 97 is now available on Nike.com for $180 in women’s sizes.
