Is This Nike Air Max 97 Inspired By The Upcoming Tokyo Olympics?

Following the silhouette’s recent ornamentations featuring elements of Charlotte Hornet team colors and heart-shaped silver lockets, the Nike Air Max 97 has unofficially started a thematic movement this season. This latest iteration to have sprung up on our radar seems to continue on with this trend, as the classic silhouette – although at first glance looks like a normal black/gold colorway – features a very recognizable color combination on its accented tongue ribbons. Painted in striped-fashion are tones of blue, yellow, black, green, and red, all arranged in an identical manner as the iconic Olympic rings symbol. With the 2020 XXXII Olympic Summer Games set to bring its torch ceremonies to Tokyo, Japan next year, it’s quite possible that these Air Maxes will coincide with the international festivities. A gallery of official images is available here below, so grab a detailed look while you wait on their arrival and expect them to drop on Nike.com in the near future.
