Though they’ve since adjusted focus, Nike — at least a couple years back — was completely fascinated with the idea of the sneaker boot: a hybrid composed of the brand’s most cherished classics and the utility of functional, often workwear-geared silhouettes. And though we’ve felt tremors by way of UNDERCOVER’s past season collaborations, the style is finally set to make a huge return as the Air Force 1 High delivers a boot-like design finished with ever-resilient GORE-TEX fabric.
Not too unlike that of their past works, the offering is effectively and thankfully a return to form for the likely forgotten motif. Olive tones are coated against a paneling of robust leathers, each structured identical to the original in most ways. Toe boxes, however, close up their usual perforations, leaving only subtle indents to remain relatively signature to the overarching blueprint. Laces wrap along a tongue made of ballistic mesh, leading upwards to a strap whose aesthetic has been reworked to fit a more militaristic language. “GORE-TEX” stamps along the heel as an overt nod to the pair’s weather resistance, stamped in black atop an upgraded tooling tweaked for size and grip.
Grab a close-up look at the details below and sit tight as we await an upcoming Nike.com release.
