Every label in the imposing COMME des GARÇONS universe handles collaborations in a different way — as if each is its own self-sustaining entity. CdG BLACK, in relation to the rest of the roster, has to be the most consistent both in its releases as well as its use of color. For example, the diffusion still offers a few of their past triple black releases year-round at DSMs across the world, with everything from the Pegasus to the Footscape still displayed on the ground floor. But soon, it seems SAs will have to make room for yet another standout: the Zoom Talaria.
Designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the silhouette first debuted in 1997, proffering a sleek overall shape and the innovative Zoom Air cushioning. While it made a small cameo thanks to the patronage of NikeLab years after, the Talaria never resurfaced in the same way many retro models are now. However, as a sort of reset point, this collaborative make-up will ring in a new generation of colorways, starting with its simple and understated scheme. Black marks everywhere — the suede exterior, leather trims, midsole, etc — while the heel emblazons with the sub-brand’s name in bright white.
Grab a detailed look at these right here, and though there’s currently no release date, you can expect it to hit DSM likely within the coming months.
If you prefer a bit more color, maybe the Yeezy Boost 700 Sun is more your speed.
UPDATE (02/11/2021):
