With roots dating back to the baseball scene in the ’70s, the Converse Chuck 70 has become one of the most iconic lifestyle propositions of all time. Having gone through a variety of new material makeups such as leather, the often-canvas high top is getting one of its most creative iterations yet by opting for waterproof Tyvek uppers covered in branded graphics.
Using white as a base color, the raincoat-like uppers are patterned with DuPont and Tyvek’s red and blue logo on the medial side. This side also features a blue gridded pattern midfoot, adding to the graphic design. On the lateral side, the repeated logos have been switched out for a red crosshatch pattern while the midfoot displays a single oversized logo. The alternating designs between the two sides make for a playful look that is unexpected of the hazmat suit-maker. As a finishing touch, the classic All-Star patch receives an all-white finish—also in Tyvek material—to retain the Converse heritage.
The pair is available at select European retailers such as HANON for approximately $120 USD.
In other news, the Nike Air Presto is making its seasonal return with a triple black colorway.
