adidas Harden Vol. 9
The adidas Harden Vol 9 is (naturally) James Harden’s 9th shoe with the Three Stripes, set to release in January 2025. A significant shift in adidas Basketball’s design language came with the release of the Anthony Edwards 1, Dame 9, and the Harden Vol. 8; the PG’s sequel continues that initiative, officially revealed to the public in a sleek, chrome-coated “Cyber Metallic” colorway.
While the EVA pod from the previous model is gone, replaced instead with a synthetic exterior cage that communicates Three Stripes branding at the quarter, much of the general touchpoints from the Harden 8 stick around for Vol 9. Ostensibly, the same cushioning package of Boost and Lightstrike defines this silhouette as well. At the same time, a nearly identical outsole underfoot executes the high traction needs that come with making a model for the always-explosive Beard.
In addition to the “Cyber Metallic” Vol. 9 that Harden showed the public in a 40-point outing against the Jazz, we also got an early look at a reliable black and white colorway a few months previous. adidas explicitly mentioned in their announcement that there’d be “plenty of colorway options” as the shoe nears its official release.
