James Harden and the LA Clippers may not be in contention for this year’s NBA crown, but his signature shoe has allowed The Beard’s presence to linger in the playoff field. Hoopers for the Pacers and Thunder have joined recreational hoopers in broad adoption of the adidas Harden Vol. 9, a model that isn’t slowing down a bit as the sun starts to set on this season. Echoing a similar news blast in December, adidas Basketball just tipped off exactly what we can expect from #1’s latest in the coming months.
In this cadre of new looks, the easiest to digest are the “Red Metallic” and two tonal looks (“Flamingo Pink” and “Dynamo”) suitably lining up with some of the simplistically blocked pairs that have hit the streets already. However, there’s plenty of experimentation on display as the silhouette looks to its next chapter. The middlemost “Molded Leather” showcases leather siding next to a white inner bootie, while a neon green switches into “Snakesin” exteriors and the grey/teal/black “UNO Chain” taps into glittery patterns on its cage. Finally, NBA fanatics will likely be familiar with the last pair, an eccentric blend of royal purple, light green, and white that the Thunder’s Jalen Williams and Lu Dort have been sporting throughout their team’s playoff run.
While release dates and official names for all of these shoes haven’t yet surfaced, we do know that the adidas Harden Vol. 9 “J. Dub” and “Red Metallic” are coming up soonest. Circle June 6th and June 21st if you’re in the market for either. Catch the full breadth of colorways slated for the latter half of the year via the images below.
