Kanye West
Kanye West is a hip-hop and pop culture superstar best known for his music, taste in fashion, and sneakers. He is noted as one of the most well-versed sneakerheads in the celebrity community and is consistently seen wearing select sneakers in his music videos, live shows, and in public. He is also the first non-athlete to release his own Nike signature shoe called the Air Yeezy, which debuted in 2009, followed by the Air Yeezy 2 in 2012. In 2013, Kanye signed with adidas and debuted the first Yeezy Boost 750 “Grey” in 2015.
In late 2023, Kanye West and adidas parted ways due to the multi-faceted artist’s anti-semitic remarks on social media. What followed was a bitter split that eventually led to adidas liquidating remaining Yeezy footwear at steep discounted prices.
In 2024, Kanye took back the spotlight by relaunching his own line of YZY footwear, including the BL-01 (aka the Bullys) and the SL-01 (aka the Yeezy Slides).
