Though retired from the spotlight, Kobe Bryant remains immortalized in his signature Nike silhouettes — the most influential of which have made surprising returns throughout the past few years with the “Protro” namesake tagged along. The Kobe 5 Protro first entered the market with the “Chaos” colorway in January of 2019.
After a pause in Mamba releases following his tragic passing and the expiration of his contract with Nike, Vanessa Bryant re-upped their partnership on behalf of the Kobe estate. The silhouette would still have to wait quite a while before hitting shelves once again, with the Kobe 5 “X-Ray” marking the first Protro release in nearly 4 years.
Further down the line, the “Draft Day” and “Year of the Mamba” colorways loom as notable releases for 2025.
