Yeezy Slides
Yeezy Slides are a slip-on, one-piece footwear design from Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) as a part of his independent footwear design brand, YZY. The model is formally known as the YZY YS-01.
In past years, the phrase could’ve referred to several silhouettes under the adidas banner (chiefly, the aptly titled adidas Yeezy Slide, the Yeezy 450 Slide), but the publicly and widely reported-on breakup of the partners in 2023 has retired each of those products along with the wider adidas Yeezy roster. Truthfully, nearly every brand of any significant repute cut ties with the Grammy-winner in the wake of his antisemitic remarks, an industry-wide rebuke that functionally forced the multi-hyphenate to stake out on his own.
That culminated in the launch of the Yeezy website, shifting the focus to minimally constructed, cost-effective fare across both apparel and footwear. The “Yeezy Pods” were the launch product for yeezy.com, a sock/sneaker hybrid that clocked in at just $20. Further drops like the SL-01 (“slipper”) maintained that $20 price point, justified with its one-piece foam construction. The design shares much of its DNA with that erstwhile Three Stripes design, also mirroring a now dominant aesthetic that West genuinely was a trend setter for.
Yeezy Slides remain available on yeezy.com, listed at the time of this writing in nine colorways (white, black, a range of earthy shades, and a more vibrant blue). Constructed entirely of EVA foam, a $20 sticker price is also consistent with its earliest drops. Shipping is where you may pay the price for that reduced sticker price; previous purchasers report a six to thirteen week latency between purchase and receipt.
