Before Jeremy Scott became the posterchild for adidas Originals’ bold fashion sense, Japanese visionairy Yohji Yamamoto was breaking necks with Euro-inspired lifestyle sneaker designs to which the rest of the lifestyle sneaker market has still to catch. It’s hard to argue he’s anywhere but the peak of his powers when you see this newest adidas Y-3 design, one of many Yamamoto designs featuring nontraditional lacing. But we’ve never seen the laces and basically the entire upper of a shoe covered in a shroud like the new Y-3 Nomad Star, a mix of velvety suede and grainy leather that transforms the classic Pro Model midtop silhouette beyond recognition. Burgundy and black pairs are coming up soon so check out both pairs after the jump below and let us know which one you’re more likely to grab. via Sneaker Freaker
