When he was eleven years old back in 1995, your author purchased his first pair of skateboarding shoes: the Converse One Star.  While the Airwalks he saw on the same rack have dropped out of the skate market and the One Star label has been reappropriated to promote Cons’ collection for Target stores, the One Star remains an icon of early skate culture.

The Wajima Ox “Made in Japan” edition of the One Star brings some of the glory back to this classic kick by infusing the slim shillouette with shiny patent leather uppers.  Appearing in black, red and white, three of the four pairs feature a golden Star on the side panels.  The remaining black pair rocks a red Star and might be the best of the bunch.  mita sneakers has all four, plus a ton of other One Stars.
