2009 marks the twentieth anniversary of one of the very first professional skateboarding signature shoes of all time. For two decades now the Vans ‘Caballero’ silhouette by veteran skate board legend Steve Caballero, has remained a staple in skateboarding through generations of skaters, as well as numerous eras in skateboarding history. Very rarely do any shoes accomplish such a feat, no matter the sport or genre. To commemorate this historic event, Vans will re-release the original Vans ‘Caballero’ sneaker in it’s original high cut silhouette. The release stays true to the original using mostly suede on the upper, with the classic ‘Caballero’ reptile pattern on the shoes side panels. The out sole of the shoe still features the same vulcanized gum rubber that has made Vans a skater favorite over the years. The Roman Numerals ‘XX’ are embroidered on the heel along with the years ‘1989-2009’ to mark this monumental occasion. Photos via Rakuten
