If you haven’t picked up a copy yourself, can you guess which Jay was chosen #1 in ESPN’s recently released Michael Jordan Hall of Fame Special Issue? “Do you know, do you know, do yo know?”  It was the Air Jordan III.  Among some of the reasons why, which would have been my number 1 pick, it was chosen is the introduction to Tinker Hatfield’s genius to JB, the use of the classic (and now sadly- overused) elephant print, or even the fact that they’re the sneakers he’s rocking in one of the most famous images in Jordan’s, basketball, or even sports history in general- the free-throw line dunk.  But this is all stuff once said and done.  Back when they first came out- it’s success was highly attributed to an advertising campaign using Spike Lee’s Mars Blackmon character as the pitchman.  Now we all know the Spiz’ike itself is a representation of all the shoes that utlilized this clever marketing strategy, but the III’s were the first ones seen in those comedic black and white commercials featuring His Airness being nagged by Spike Lee’s alter ego.

As a result, these new Spiz’ike feature a combined colorway of three of the most sought after AJ3 colorways- Cement, True Blue, and Fire Red.  Sure, other pairs feature famous colorways too, but the “Fresh Since ’85” pair adds some more features.  From the exterior, the first noticeable addition is the “Mike” and “Mars” lace locks.  Enter the inside of the shoe and you see some more flavor.  The collar is lined with the famous “Do you know?” lines from the commercials, and printed on the insole the equally famous Mars Blackmon imagery with the shoe’s moniker underneath.  Official release is expected to be sometime in January.  via Kenlu
