A Bathing Ape has gotten in closer touch with American streetwear trends than they have been since the mid ’00s Bapesta explosion, and here’s more proof that BAPE has its eye on what sells to US sneaker shoppers. The new BAPE Simple Sta takes the same AF1-aping Bapesta silhouette and injects some grown-up hormone, resulting in a moccasin-toed look with a slimmed down ankle collar. Add in the Red Wing workboot look that’s been a favorite with Nike Sportswear this year, and it’s clear that BAPE is back to copying what’s freshest.
