When you think ‘crepe sole’, chances are you picture a pair of Clarks Originals Wallabees. A streetwear legend for what seems like centuries now, the Wallabee has spawned countless imitators. But for the first time in a good while, Wallabees are overshadowed by the higher-cut chukka stylings of Clarks’ Desert Boot. But aside from classic good looks, the Wallabee and Desert Boot both have a squishy crepe sole, as does this new Nike Air Max 1 ‘Wallabee’ they’ve clearly influenced. These joints go for a classy look befitting their muse, with a white/grey upper comprised of subtle materials like lightly tumbled suede and neatly trimmed pony hair.
