There was only one team not named ‘Los Angeles Lakers’ or ‘San Antonio Spurs’ that won an NBA title between 1999 and 2007. Deeetroit basketball was in full effect during a 2003-04 season that saw the Pistons knock off a veteran-loaded Lakers squad in a seemingly easy 5 games. It was a suprise, to be certain, but there’s always been something effortless about then-Pistons power forward Rasheed Wallace. From his apparent lack of self-discipline to the ease with which that turnaround jumper sails in over hopeless defenders, ‘Sheed was as unique and unruly as any world heavyweight champion. And he’s one of the only guys in recent memory to wear Nike Air Force 1s in an NBA game. The pair pictured above is a relic from that tenure in 313 that gave Wallace his only chip; interesting to note that this size 13 sample from 2004 would be dwarfed by then-teammate Rip Hamilton’s 17s! If you’re a Sheed fan or an AF1 completist, these were recently up for auction from illdoitforyou on eBay.
