Nike Presents: HYPERFUSE – Performance Driving Aesthetic

Nike Hyperfuse Performance Driving Aesthetic

“It took us about two years to pick out the right balance of heat and pressure.”

From the results we’ve enjoyed since the Nike Zoom Hyperfuse debuted on Rajon Rondo’s feet last postseason, we’d have to say that the time Shane Kohatsu spent in the Nike Innovation Kitchen was well worth it.  Kohatsu takes us on an inside look at the process of creating Hyperfuse, including an in-depth examination of how Hyperfuse construction eschews traditional stitching and gluing in favor of a heat bonding process that results in a one-piece upper.  It’s a natural place for Nike Sportswear Innovation head Ben Shaffer to come in and explain the virtues of the material with regard to its aesthetics.  Shaffer describes how the Hyperfuse’s unique translucent layers allows a huge variety of gradients and requires a different mindset when planning a colorway.  Click through to see the entire video and let us know if, much like learning how to play an instrument confers the ability to enjoy classical music, this video gives you a new appreciation for the upcoming Nike Sportswear Hyperfuse hybrids. via HB
