Vans California is a brand that on the surface would engender feelings of warm summers, by its previous releases is prepared for some serious chillin’ whenever and wherever, and from its most recent previews, plans on spending most of its time closer to the Sierra Nevada than the Pacific coast. The Switchback boots we just saw were no surprise in terms of both quality and ruggedness, but applying that second quality to the new Vans California Mid Skool ’77 requires adding D-ring eyelets and corded laces along with the ‘Hiker Pack’ distinction. Pairs in black, Bison feature contrasts on those laces while the Silver Mink edition goes tonal but adds shearling to the sockliner for a warm and cozy feel.
