Is the ankle lock-down sleeve in the Zoom Kobe VII Supreme removable? Yes. Is the Kobe VII wearable without it? Probably not. Here we have an on-foot shot of the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Inline’ with the ankle piece removed, and you’ll see that the upper shell is devoid of any dedicated tongue. It seems as if the ankle-piece must be worn with the Kobe VII Supreme (not to worry, a regular version of the Zoom Kobe VII will be available in February), but did you know that the ankle-piece would make a great pair of sandals or even in-house slippers? The built-in ankle-wrap will likely give Kobe Bryant added security on his ankles (his aging ankles, might we add), but keep in mind that the non-Supreme version of the Kobe VII is much like the previous two Zoom Kobe installments in that it features the low-cut soccer-shoe mold.
