Nike’s Black History Month collections typically do a pretty good job of riding the line between gaudy and elegant. Around this time last year we were treated to a range of black based sneakers with hits of gold swirled in. For the 2012 editions the black base remains, but the accents come in the form of a textile pattern inspired by traditional African art. Of course you’ve already seen what the Nike Zoom KD IV can do with some graphical treatment, so you had to expect the Nike Zoom KD IV ‘Black History Month’ would be another slam dunk from Durant’s signature line. Sure enough the sneaker gets the job done, with the intricate geometric patterning spreading throughout the upper and running the full length of the bottoms.
