Can you believe it’s only been seven years since Jordan Brand debuted the Dub Zero?! We go through so much new heat these days that when you zoom out to 50,000 feet and examine the territory covered in less than a decade, it’s nothing less than mindblowing. From the very first JB hybrid in 2005 arose the Spiz’ike in ’06, followed in subsequent years by several other ‘greatest hits’ hybrids. The latest chapter in this remixed Air Jordan Legacy is directly tied to both the Spizikes and the Dub Zeros. Jordan’s Son of Mars offers the laser etching introduced during the AJXX/Dub Zero product cycle while keeping with the early ’90s silhouette that we see on the earlier Spike Lee-referencing hybrid. This first release is something like Son of Mars’ take on the Spizike’s ‘Grape’ rendition, itself an Aquatone hit or two away from the beloved Air Jordan VIII it sampled. This is a crisp look for spring, and one that you can find available from select JB retailers like Sole-Up on eBay.
