Vans’ most classic lowtops like the Authentic and Era are shining examples of Oxford-style ‘closed lace’ construction. These plimsolls will never entirely go out of style just as the dress shoes upon which they’re built have been around for over two hundred years, so Off the Wall just went ahead and newspeak’d the name to make something that’s just about the opposite of a traditional oxford. Instead of a closed-lacing lowtop, the Vans California Oxford Toe Cap is actually a derby-ish boot on the order of a classic Red Wing or maybe even one of Palladium’s cap-toed styles. Quirky name aside, these have all the makings of a go-to winter look, and you can see navy and grey styles in more detail below before they release next month. via FNG
