“Designed for a king. Made for me.” – Matthew Walzer
The name Matthew Walzer has been floating around the sneaker news cycle over the last two months, but if you’re not quite sure who Matthew is or what the #NikeLetter states, we’ll do a quick rundown for you. Matthew’s a hardcore Nike Basketball sneaker fan, but doesn’t get to enjoy them to the fullest due to his condition. Walzer has gone against all odds and lived a fulfilling life with Cerebral Palsy, but the everyday tasks of lacing up shoes has proven to be a difficult one for him.
Matthew took matters into his own hands and went straight to the source, writing a letter to Nike CEO Mark Parker, and with the help of Nice Kicks, the #NikeLetter gained some formidable steam. Soon enough, Walzer was contacted by folks at Nike, and after discussing the specs of what he would need in a shoe, Nike delivered a pair of customs Hyperdunk 2012s in the ‘USA’ colorway. More recently, Matthew received two pairs of the Nike LeBron X, featuring a custom ankle-strap and a zipper closer with ‘Walzer’ embroidered on the zipper tab. Big ups to Walzer for taking the initiative! More shots of his LeBrons are just below.
