Chinese New Year has evolved from an annual inspiration to a focal point around which a substantial variety of tribute sneakers are released.  There are tremendous implications for the sneaker world in 2013, as the wild animal print trend converges with the Chinese Zodiac and we see even more serpentine scales applied for the Year of the Snake.  Kobe Bryant’s Nike Basketball signatures are positioned to be among the key releases, and we see here that old school roundball kicks will play a part too, as Puma unveils three new releases ready for the turn of the calendar.  The Puma Mid Snake Commercial YOTS brings together grey/blue, brown/orange and black/red styles that compliment each other nicely, all three adding scales to their ankle collar for a moderately restrained approach on the astrological theme.  The Lunar New Year comes up on February 10th, but these ‘Year of the Snake’ Mids will arrive at select retailers on Tuesday, January 1st, 2013.
