According to Yahoo! Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski, it appears that Steph Curry has left Nike in order to join the growing Under Amour Basketball roster. The move is one that seems to the echo recent endorsement decisions like that of the rumored Rajon Rondo departure to Anta, wherein a rising/established star jumps to a slightly smaller pond where they’re likely to get a lot more attention. The partnership has yet to be formally announced, but word is that Under Armour will speak on it come next week.
At this point UA has put together quite the team of exciting youngsters with Curry joining the likes of Brandon Jennings and DeAndre Jordan, but Curry indubitably has the most star power of the three and goes from being a “PE” guy at Nike to potentially the headlining athlete for the brand’s fast-growing category. Obviously Nike reigns with the strongest roster of NBA athletes, but has Under Armour caught up to adidas with this acquisition? Does Curry’s signing make UA a more attractive camp for other NBA star athletes looking to pledge their sneaker allegiance? Let us know what you think in the comments and check back in with us for the official word on Stephen Curry’s Under Armour signing.
