Under Armour got its start with breathable gear meant to be worn under football uniforms, hence the brand name. Their footwear collection began organically with football cleats, then expanded into trainers, basketball shoes, runners and they’ve also gained a foothold in the tactical/hunting niche. Take it as a sign that the brand is continuing to grow that they’re now offering more causal styles, as the Under Armour UA Gold debuts an innovative new silhouette that fits right in with their iconoclastic performance footwear. The UA Gold is chukka-like but has a tongue that sits on it kind of like the Nike KD 6, which is to say that this is a novel construction that has parallels at least in parts, but there’s nothing quite like it out there today. That’s a great way to get started with the whole lifestyle thing, and you’ll find the first two Gold colorways available straight from UA.
