Looking back at New Balance‘s 2014, one has to commend the brand so rooted in retro running history for branching out and giving us coveted retros in other categories like tennis and basketball. For the hoops side of things, they had James Worthy champion their stitched ‘N’ logo for much of his career in the New Balance Worthy 740. James is so rooted in Purple and Gold (just look at Packer Shoes’ Purple Reign pair for a Hollywood reference) that it’s easy to forget that he also was a member of another iconic team during his collegiate years in the University of North Carolina. That’s right, James was a Tar Heel and shared the court with a Freshman version of Michael Jordan, but that was James’ team. He took home the College Player of the Year Honors before turning pro in 1982. Now the NB P740 gets a Tar Heels treatment in all of the White/Powder Blue glory complete with ’52’ PE stitching. Catch a better glimpse below and pick up the pair from Oneness today.
