The Tune Squad was lacking in the height department, so much so that Michael Jordan had to face off against Shawn Bradley’s Monstar doppelgänger for the opening tip in Space Jam. Luckily, his opponent got distracted by his shoes, his Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” pair, MJ secured the jump ball, and the rest is cinematic history. Those pristine Air Jordan 11s won’t be the only sneaker to get a makeover inspired by the film, as Converse presents the Space Invader Pack. Larry Johnson’s Converse Aero Jam Mid gets covered in a magenta suede in a nod to Bupkus the Alien, the antagonist that stole his basketball talents in the 1996 movie. A galactic print arrives on the inside of the sneaker with a unique ‘World Domination’ patch. The Converse Weapon Mid is also included featuring a callout to Marvin Martian (who never actually played in the game but instead served as an unbiased albeit frequently abused referee.) There’s no word yet on if or when this clever collection will arrive stateside, but you can grab either pair based on the Warner Bother villains via Sivasdescalzo today.
