Vans was founded in 1966, which for those of you who aren’t very good at math, means the legendary skate and lifestyle sneaker brand is celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2016. You can expect a year-long celebration featuring a number of special edition sneakers and events, but Vans kicks things off by paying tribute to one of their most celebrated models throughout the years, the Sk8-Hi.
Originally named the Style 38 and created for skateboarders as a more protective and supportive option compared to shoes like the Authentic and Era, the Sk8-Hi has since become one of the most iconic shoes from the California brand, thanks to its versatility and stylish appeal for people of all walks of life. Focusing on its appearance on the feet of skateboarders, surfers, artists, musicians, and style influencers, Vans has created a special lookbook for the Sk8-Hi, which you can view below. Included in those repping the Sk8-Hi are: legendary skateboarder Steve Caballero; underground musician and DJ Syd The Kid; female skateboarder Lizzie Armanto; punk rock and hardcore legend Henry Rollins; artist and animator Jay Howell; model Natalie Westling; and pro surfer Wade Goodall.
