Tomorrow’s release of the Just Don x Air Jordan 2 won’t be remembered for the impeccable quality of the shoe, the luxurious elevation of the silhouette, or the laser-precise stitching on the buttery upper. We’ll all remember the “Beach” for the ridiculous price-tag of $650 thanks to Jordan Brand’s decision to package it with a hat that nobody really wants. Throughout 2015, Jordan Brand tested the market with the Pinnacle series – a supremely crafted Air Jordan 1 with lux materials both classic and exotic. Most of them sold well and in turn the Pinnacle experiment gave the brand some valuable info about what its consumers will spend on, meaning this new tier of super-expensive Jordans will continue on with more collaborations with respected labels and names, the aforementioned Pinnacle series, and so on with prices that will ensure nobody will ever jump over the Jumpman.
Turkish sneaker store 290 Square Meters, or 290sqm, seems to agree. While it may not please Nike or their merchandise connections, but they’ve announced that they will be selling the Just Don 2s at “a price that’s rewarding to our true customers”, which we figure is much lower than retail. We applaud the move and the store’s stance against these crazy prices, but unfortunately it’s only in-store so this great offer will be available to locals only. Update: We reached out to store to clarify their statement. According to the shop, there were inconsistencies with pricing info directly from Nike; 290sqm was originally informed of a retail price of 2119 Turkish Lira (consistent with global retail pricing), but it was later changed to 1119 Turkish Lira per information from Nike’s Turkish team (that pricing is obviously inconsistent with global retail pricing). They were also unhappy with Nike’s distribution as some of the Just Don stock went to a competing store, which is also releasing them at 1119 Turkish Lira (again, based on directives from the Nike Turkish teams). 290sqm has chosen to match that price, despite it being considerably lower than retail and not in line what the global pricing is.

TO ALL INTERESTED, PLEASE READ. due to many mistakes made by the Turkish Nike team about the strategy and price of the Don C X Jordan 2 we have decided to launch them tomorrow morning in-store only for a price that’s rewarding our true customers. 290 has always been a company where making money is second to third for us, we have always been super transparent with our price policy and always valued the fact that all the brands and their prices should be the same as everywhere else in the world… we never charged customers fees or extra taxes, which normally all other shops in Turkey do and increase their prices, we feel that that is not honest and we always appreciate the love our customers gave us about this! The Turkish Nike team made a big mistake and a mess out of the launch of the Don C X Jordan 2 product. we will launch them tomorro on a first come, first serve basis with a price that really doesn’t matter to us much that’s why we will be rewarding all of you who come out tomorrow morning early for the camp-out!
