Since 1995, the Nike Air Rift has maintained its status as one of the strangest sneakers to ever come out of the Swoosh’s creative facilities in Beaverton, Oregon. The experimental design featured a neoprene slip-on upper complete with bold panels that allowed the entire forefoot to be exposed while two straps added a lockdown fit. Now NikeLab is transforming the silhouette over two decades later, getting rid of the two aforementioned noticeable traits for a new seamless wrapped construction in the NikeLab Rift Wrap for Summer 2016. The monochromatic ventilated upper sneaks in modern Swoosh placement on the toe while the heel strap remains to match the traditional outsole unit. What do you think of this summer-ready design?
