Team USA finished off their final exhibition game before heading to Rio De Janeiro, defeating Nigeria 110-66. Team veteran Carmelo Anthony, who decided to lace up his Jordan Melo M12 instead of the Air Jordan 31, lead all scorers with 19 points in just as many minutes. The dominating effort is a good sign of things to come, as Team USA will open up their Olympic competition against China this Saturday, August 6th.
Even with as many as ten players competing in their first Olympics this go around, the exhibition slate has showcased that Team USA still remains heavy favorites to take home the Gold Medal. Whether it’s DeMar DeRozan reprizing Vince Carter’s own Olympic role with high-flying finishes while wearing number 9, or Kyrie Irving’s killer crossover, there will be plenty of impending highlights to come over the next month.
Coach K has been tweaking his lineup throughout the numerous exhibition games, so it’s still unknown who he’ll go with as starters outside of veterans like Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony.
