In yesterday’s pregame shoot-around before the Cavaliers went toe-to-toe with the San Antonio Spurs, Derrick Rose was seen wearing the ninth model of his signature shoe line with adidas – the D Rose 9. The most significant change on the upcoming Derrick Rose signature shoe is that it no longer features BOOST, a cushioning unit that was a mainstay with the embattled former MVP’s signature shoes since the debut of the D Rose 5. It is likely that the Three Stripes chose to design this sneaker without its patented foam technology in order to lower the price-point as a response to the falling demand and market for Rose’s sneakers. Is is likely that Derrick Rose’s upcoming shoes will feature BOUNCE technology, which is currently featured in brand-mate Damian Lillard’s signature shoe, the Dame 4, so it’s possible that the MSRP of the upcoming D Rose 9 will be closer to $115 than the current $140 MSRP of the D Rose 8. Earlier photos of the ninth shoe revealed ADIWEAR, which is likely a foam-based cushioning.
While a release date hasn’t been confirmed for Derrick Rose’s next signature shoe, its appearance on court suggests a release isn’t far away. Stay tuned for updates and be sure to catch Cavaliers games if you’re curious about what he’ll be wearing next.
