adidas Is Releasing Their Own Sub-2 Hour Marathon BOOST Sneaker

Nike’s BREAKING2 initiative took them to the city of Monza in Italy, where world-renowned runners Eliud Kipchoge, Zersenay Tadese, and Lelisa Desisa attempted to run a full marathon in under two hours. While none of those individuals managed to break that mark, Kipchoge came extremely close as he finished the race 25 seconds above the mark, completing the fastest marathon in history. His performance proved that humans aren’t too far off from achieving what was once thought unthinkable, and now adidas is putting their chips in with the new BOOST Sub2 running shoe for Kenyan long-distance runner Wilson Kipsang in Tokyo.

The adidas adiZero BOOST Sub2 features a new BOOST Light midsole and a Microfit upper for an extremely lightweight package that looks to aid in Kipsang’s goals to not only repeat his win, but break the two-hour barrier. He’ll be wearing the BOOST Sub2 on Saturday, February 24th at the marathon, while the shoes will be available to the public on March 15th on adidas.com for $180. The shoes were first released to select marathon runners last September.
