YCMC and New Balance have joined together to launch an exclusive 990v4 collaboration entitled the “Benjamin Bread”, a sneaker that’s all about being in your bag. As the first ever athletic shoe to retail at $100 upon its original release in 1982, the 990 silhouette has become a luxurious status symbol the world over and its cultural significance is especially strong in the DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia) where YCMC is based. Using the 990v4’s high-end status and luxury background as inspiration, the “Benjamin Bread” colorway takes its cues from the redesigned U.S. $100 dollar bill as it features a money green pigskin suede upper and grey mesh accents. To top off the opulent, money-themed look, the New Balance logos adorning the tongue and heel are highlighted in a metallic gold. Finally, as a deluxe finishing touch every customer who purchases the shoe will also receive a special shopping tote done up to look like a bank deposit bag. Look for this high-end take on an already luxurious classic to hit YCMC’s webstore and Shoe City locations throughout the DMV on March 23rd.
