Gentry Humphrey, a pivotal figure in the growth of Jordan Brand in the 2000s, is headed back to his Jumpman stomping grounds. The Shoe Game reports that Humphrey, currently the Nike VP of Profile Sports, will be returning to Jordan Brand as the VP of Footwear in 2018. He’s made quite a name for himself in MJ’s corner as he’s played a role in the creation of some of the most memorable sneaker releases of all-time (the UNDFTD x Air Jordan 4 and 2006’s Defining Moments Package to name a couple).
Jordan has evolved considerably since the Beaverton veteran’s departure in 2011; NCAA partnerships and an emphasis on the female demographic are a big part of the business plan as Jordan looks to re-gain the number-two spot in U.S. footwear market share from adidas.
